That's pretty handy. I'm surprised Honda kept such a feature so long into OBDII era. While I can utilize Torque along with my $12 OBDII Bluetooth adapter and Android telephone, I don't always have the adapter around so I wish more manufacturers featured this.
I remember the fun of fixing my old 88 Cavalier using that primitive OBDI. While OBDI was better than nothing and more often than not helped you forth, I exercise very much enjoy beingness able to launch an app on my phone and view existent-time info.

When in the wrecking yard. Where can I notice that blueish clip that you fabricated? What office of the motorcar did you get it from?

OBDI never supported live data. It all had to be done manually with a DVOM.

At that place are lots of places where they used a 2 pin connector like that and they aren't all blue, information technology just happens that the i that I constitute was blueish. I think it was from something in the HVAC of an old Legend if I remember correctly, it was quite a few years ago. Remember you don't demand the 'tool' yous only need to spring the terminals to get the job done.

Wow Eric, recently I've discovered that this very aforementioned method is really used in my 1995 Citroen AX to read the codes from the ECU.
In my case the codes can be read by grounding ane of the two pins (the one on the left, property the connector'south leap downwardly) of the ECU diagnostic port for about v seconds; then the bank check engine light turns off, then blinks on once, then a break, and then twice (code 1-2 = offset of diagnosis).
Then you have to footing the pivot once more , and information technology will start with the error codes (if at that place is any).
In the end the code volition be two slow blinks (code 1-1 = terminate of diagnosis)
To clear the codes is as easy as grounding the pin for well-nigh x seconds 🙂
Very interesting!
And by the fashion, my code was two-2 (2 fast blinks, a pause, 2 fast blink) which meant I had a faulty idle control valve/stepper motor; I kinda already knew it was faulty, but wanted to counter-cheque my own diagnosis with that of the ECU 😆 before replacing the part!
I'd actually like to do a video to explain the procedure, but I have some big hurdles
– very modest and dark garage
– no existent videocamera, just a cellphone or a camera (the one for the still-pictures)
– not very good english language pronounciation 😛
I could postal service some pictures however 😉
For the moment…
…Live long and prosper (and stay dirty!)

Hey! I have a 2001 Honda Accordance, and I tin't observe this connector. The closest thing I meet is a the aforementioned kind of blueish connector but in the driver'south side fuse box, and it just has one wire. Tried it anyways and it doesn't work. Do you (or anyone) happen to know where the appropriate connector is in an '01 accord? I'chiliad guessing it looks dissimilar in my car. Your videos have helped me more than one time. Thanks then much!

It should be just behind the passenger side kick panel. It may likewise be just behind the carpeting on the passenger side.
